In recent years transfusion medicine has become very prevalent in veterinary care. National animal blood banks do supply blood products, but are often backordered and out of product. In order to better serve our patients, ACCES decided to start its own blood bank in 2005.

Donors are blood typed and screened for infectious diseases. A complete physical examination is performed prior to each donation. Donors receive lots of treats and toys during each donation to make it a fun experience for them.
